A History of Bureaucracy
In 2003 Bob Dick prepared this document, A History of Bureaucracy. This was originally a four-page summary of key issues in structuring organisations. It was prepared as a resource document to support an action learning consultancy investigating new organisational structures.

Personally I would like to see the triangle inverted for awhile. Like Ricardo Semmler a successful Brazilian business owner (wrote a book called Maverick) who saw the ceo top position as a support to all those positions above him. His role was to make sure that everybody was supported to do their job and he didn’t have any qualms about taking up a toilet brush.
Thanks for your comment, Isabel.
Yes…the inverted triangle is what is needed. As the article says, the bureaucracy was fine for around 10,000 years and then it went ‘belly up’ around 40 years ago. People of passion and dedication can all ‘turn things around’ if they choose to. This sensational community is filled with some pretty remarkable people. It doesn’t matter who people vote for, sleep with or eat for breakfast…if we are all passionate about making this a better place then…let’s do it!!
