Attorney-General

Restructure the government department into a ‘flatter’ structure that effectively removes ‘management clogs’.

Middle managers who are working well in their positions will be elevated to the senior management team (that includes the incumbent Minister).  Each senior manager (with the exception of the Minister) will be directly responsible for a number of operational team members and they will report activity to each other in a two-way simplistic and meaningful manner with projected outcomes and time-lines for achieving them.

A particularly complex division of the government’s responsibilities, this department needs to be stream-lined to make it faster to prosecute or otherwise process offenders.  I believe that the portfolio should ideally be held by a Minister with significant legal or para-legal experience and background.

I’m sorry Mr. Walcott, I don’t want to be rude but this page needs a lot of work. The first two paragraphs make so little sense that they are effectively irrelevant. I assume they have just been copied and pasted into/from all your other sections about issues.

Whatsmore, your final paragraph starts with a well intentioned sentiment that lacks aby details as to how you think this should be done.

To be perfectly honest the only actual point or idea you expressed here is contained entirely within the final sentence. Perhaps, while you rewrite and expand this article, you might want to delete everything preceding the final sentence

You’re right, Tom. And you’re not being rude. Constructive input is what I’m asking for and that’s exactly what you’ve offered. The Attorney-General portfolio is a vital one and needs to be occupied by someone (not me!!) with a strong legal background and experience. I’m still working through each of the areas within government to try and develop, in association with others, what should best be done to make this arena a positive and purposeful one.

Thanks for your tip about the re-write. As I’ve said, I’m learning more with every breath in every day. I’ll take a look back at what’s currently there and revise. It’s all a ‘work in progress’ – just like this journey called life.

That’s great Phil (can I call you Phil?) I look foward to seeing your suggested improvements.

Yes, please feel free to call me Phil. That’s my name.

I’ll continue to call you Tom as I gather that you are a ‘ghost writer’ and do not wish to be identified. Your listed email address doesn’t respond (messages bounce back). I did ask if it was possible to sit and chat through these ideas so if that’s ever a possibility for you, I’d relish the opportunity. You pose some good questions and I’d like to know more of what you think. Hopefully, you live in Greatorex!! Feel free to call me 0407 526 441 to chat by ‘phone if you’d rather not meet face to face.
