Indigenous Policy and Development

Clearly, this area needs to be held by an Indigenous member of the Assembly. Fortunately, there are several members currently who can lead this development. The incumbent Hon. Malarndirri McCarthy is a passionate leader who can positively influence this area. With her Indigenous and non-Indigenous colleagues, she has capacity to make some great leaps forward. Her cultural sensitivities, enlighted visions and proud background give rise to a very committed profile.

So do you support the NT Intervention? Either in principle and/or in practice?

What about things like CDEP or ‘work for the dole’?

    • Phil says:

      Yes, I support the initiatve.

As a psychologist, I was engaged to work with the teams of doctors, nurses and other allied health professionls to deliver pre and post briefing and de-briefing sessions with many of them. The feedack was sensational!!

We need to move away from ‘dependency’ models like CDEP and ‘work for the dole’. Work for wages, not the dole!! So 1970’s thinking!!
